IRAN vs ISRAEL :

What The Media Wants You To Forget The corporate media have been given their orders to throw the focus back on to Iran . Here is a recap of what they are trying to make you forget. 1. Israel jails Ultra-Orthodox fathers

Image
Dozens of Israeli fathers have been jailed, a day after a protest by Ultra-Orthodox Jews in support of the men, who have defied a supreme court ruling on school integration. Meanwhile, 22 mothers of pupils at an Ultra-Orthodox girls' school in an illegal Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank  have been given a stay of arrest while the court considers a plea to let them stay at home to care for their young families. The settlers' news website Channel 7 and public radio said Judge Edmund Levy decided that the court would reconvene on Sunday to discuss the request. Israeli media said that some of the mothers were pregnant, while others had children with special needs. The 35 fathers who turned themselves in at the  Jerusalem police headquarters on Thursday evening were taken to Maasiyahu prison in the central Israeli city of Ramle to serve an initial two-week jail sentence for contempt of court. Is Pakistan like Israel?

By  Khaled Ahmed June 13, 2010 Ayesha Siddiqa in her June 6 column in  The Express Tribune  made a very interesting comparison between Pakistan and Israel: both were supposedly formed on the basis of religion, both are national security states with illegal nukes and are internationally isolated. The comparison is favourable to neither. There are minor differences, however. Pakistan has a constitution which says it is a religious state. Israel doesn’t have a constitution, so its legal status is undecided. But were the two demanded in the name of religion? It is not certain. The only document that lays out the nature of the Israeli state is proclamation of  Madinat Yisrael  of 1948. (Stat e  in Hebrew is madina!) This is the proclamation about the foundation of the state. It speaks of Israel as a homeland of all Jews. It says the values of the state of Israel will be based on the teachings of the Hebrew Prophets. The Proclamation of Independence, read over ...

Israel Flotilla Attack

Captured and detained by Israel, an American tells his story - - - After two days in an Israeli jail, 64-year-old Paul Larudee speaks out BY ANIKA ANAND - THURSDAY, JUN 3, 2010 17:55 ET Sixty-four-year-old Paul Larudee, an American citizen and longtime pro-Palestinian activist, was on board one of the ships carrying humanitarian relief to Gaza that was raided by the Israeli navy on Monday. He dove into the Mediterranean Sea, only to be captured and held in an Israeli prison for two days. This was not Larudee's first brush with Israeli authorities, but it was easily his most dramatic. He spoke with Salon about the raid and his captivity this afternoon from Greece, where he arrived after being released by Israel. At around 4 a.m. on Monday, Larudee's ship was boarded by as many as 500 Israeli soldiers. After the ship's captain called an alert, Larudee immediately walked out onto the deck and found that Israeli soldiers had broken the windows of the wheelhouse (the area wh...
