Too much has been written in print media, books, magazines, personal communication and equally said on electronic media, in cafes, drawing rooms, on footpaths and seminars about the disgusting creatures who have been devouring the economic roots of Pakistan and sucking the sweat and blood of poor masses since the true leadership joined the majority about 60 years ago.
Whoever subsequently grabbed the reigns of power in the high echelons as a result of one conspiracy or the other also undertook it as a holy commitment to leave the treasury, always by (hook?) or by crook of course, in a state of bankcruptcy.
The stigmatic holy cows like Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Zia-ul-Haq, Mohtarma(?) Benazir Bhutto and Syed (?) Pervez Musharaf are no exception. The whole world knows how they manipulated taxpayers' money as well as billions of Dollars poured in by the United States and other international organizations disguised as loan and aid. Politicians like Mian Nawaz Sharif committed the same sin of amassing wealth through huge borrowings from local banks. Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman type of so called religious politicians also did not leave any stone unturned in availing opportunities offered to them to become accomplice in the national looting game.
Now the current PPPP leadership along with its allies is bent upon taking full advantage of the situation after the well planned and cunningly accomplished target of getting rid of Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed?).
In spite of all the stale and deceiving slogans, the poor masses in particular and middle class in general are experiencing the hardest grinding of Pakistan's short history. One of the major reasons for this inhumane and merciless behaviour of the rulers is people's emotional attachment with their leaders who have been and are enjoying all the luxuries of monarchs on the pretext of driving the imaginary train of democracy for which suffering masses are supplying the most expensive fuel of emotional and political support.
